Q: How can I tell if I’m addicted to psychic readings? What are the danger signs that i’m spending too much time (and money) on psychic advice?
A: The truth is, we get a fair amount of questions about this topic, and it IS something that many people are vulnerable to, if they don’t stay mindful about what is most important. And what IS most important? Your own responsibility for your own life, choices, decisions and destiny. I remember years ago speaking to one of our readers who told me she was going to see a local psychic 2 or 3 times per week. It sounded like she thought it was funny or quirky, and not a real problem……but I really disagreed. What could the same psychic possibly offer, advice wise……every other day, that couldn’t be communicated in that very first session? In this case, as in any other professional relationship predicated on ethics – it’s up to the provider to say – “hey…..i think you really ought to take a break”

Helen, a French woman in her mid-40s, had been seeking advice from psychics off and on for more than two decades, ever since she was a 19-year-old college kid. But in the years following a divorce, her dependence on clairvoyants had grown to the point where she couldn’t make even the most trivial decision — like choosing a movie — on her own. At one point, Helen was spending up to eight hours and $200 a day on the phone or online with fortune tellers. Her story appears in a recent issue of the Journal of Behavioral Addictions.
